OK Gentlemen, with the changes to The Messageboard it is clear we all need a little reminder how this beautiful bitch operates.

First and probably most important…up until this year The Messageboard has been 100% private requiring a login to even lay eyes on the homepage…this has changed. To be approved for google adsense (paid ads) the site cannot have a default login page, therefore I have unlocked The Messageboard and it is now a public site BUT before you get hot and bothered there are some exceptions and the privacy has been maintained. The league dashboard is our gate keeper. To access the league dashboard you need to login with the same google account you have always logged in with, only the 10 of us have approved google logins. If you are not logged in you will see this screen.

Everything behind this is protected (i have been made aware of a few loopholes with direct links but they have been closed)

Once you login you will lay eyes on this beauty…

 

Basically it’s the essentials of team management and league participation…9 buttons with the 3 most recent posts visible for easy access. If there is anything else that should be added like rotoworld player updates ect let me know and it can be added. I strongly recommend setting this as your homepage =>  www.themessageboard.net/league-dashboard/

Now as you post it is important that you continue to keep The Messageboard posts private (granted the only way anyone would be able to find an unprotected post would be to have the direct link) it is very easy and here is how….

Once you click new post (will only work if you are signed in) and type your semi coherent content check the following boxes : Administrator (Me), Author (all you guys)

the only way you get to view the page or post is if you are A) a user of which there are only 10 and B) if you have the appropriate role

Stoddart is the only other person than myself with 2 roles, Stoddart is an Author and an Editor. This is because I set the “Add Sidebet” page to only be able to be updated by the Editor or “SBC” in an effort to give the posting of sidebets the tiniest shred of integrity of which our league is lacking….

 

Second Item, Notifications….

Take a look at the screenshot below and look at your email address…this is the email address that you use to login and where the notifications for new posts and new comments get sent to…

 

If this is no longer your email address let me know and I will update it….Also if you would rather receive text messages put your phone number and cell provider (att,verizon ect) in the comments of this post and I will set that up.

 

Third Item Throwin Picks

It feels dirty to say but schwab had a good idea today….he thought we should do an “Off Season” version of Throwin Picks for Basketball, Golf, Ect…Excellent Idea and very easy to execute…

We can make as many sub categories to throwin picks as we have content for and I will add pages and categories.

When you are writing content for throwin picks you use the same “New Post” buttons that have been used in the past, the only difference is you click the appropriate category on the right side of the post screen (this one is blurry or the whisky is kicking in)

 

 

There would be a category for golf, basketball, hockey, ect and you would just click the appropriate category and it would show up on the corresponding page all you would have to do is click the category…im already thinking of a schwab NCAA Basketball picks page that would be straight fire

I will be writing a throwin picks page using the format i described in the first post every week. if anyone would like to join me just use the same format and make your picks, I will do a recap on Tuesdays and rank the pickers and pick categories (ie The kickoff, three and out, the chip shot, the extra point).

New thought…this could also be done as a youtube video or podcast…im thinking the way barstools pardon my take does their mount rushmores…we could do a throwin picks one, round table of what your picks are and a quick beer drinkers intuition of why they are your pick…

regardless this could be done for any sport with the picks being named after lingo from that sport…(ie a long shot in basketball would be something like the 6th man or your 3 picks on a given night would be the big 3, or the 3 point play) working titles but you get the fucking point.

ps ad clicks pay…so if you are on the site throw a click to the banners you see around the site and tell anyone you show the site to do the same. made $4.48 in profit last month not doing a fucking thing (i may have done a few clicks myself but its for the brand)
